House of Music in Innsbruck - Innsbruck

The prominent location and the high quality buildings in the immediate vicinity require an elaborate layout of the new building volume. The size expansion of the House of Music reacts to the volume of the neighbouring public buildings; the segmentation of the building capacity follows the scale of the adjoining buildings to the east.

The staggered height development of the House of Music respects the building heights of the adjacent objects and creates an urban accent in the transition from Rennweg to Universitätsstrasse. The layout of the corner building body reacts to the discharging Angerzellgasse to the south and ensures an effective urban transition between the historical urban spaces Rennweg and Universitätsstrasse.

The House of Music respects the meaning of the State Theater through a light resetting and swivelling out of the building body in this area. At the same time the location of the nature monuments is respected and particularly the oak is integrated in the overall concept.

The positioning of the House of Music enables a „wash around“ of the building through public routes and a revalued pedestrian connection of the SOWI with the Universitätsstrasse.
