Österreichische Volksbank - Headquarters - Vienna

Conceptualizing a new headquarters for the Österreichischen Volksbanken AG required the careful arrangement of an office building within the context of the existing fabric, which, out of consideration to the world heritage status, had to be retained in the new structure. The public areas, such as the central customer service centre on the ground floor, or the multi purpose conference hall on the lower ground level, are easily understood from the entrance hall.
The planted atrium forms the communicative heart of the building. From the 1st floor all the way up to the 2nd roof level accessible green zones, together with vertical planting in the atrium, create a three dimensional landscape with high amenity value. The open plan of the office floors (with 852 workstations) allows a variety of combinations of cubicle and combi-offices. Variable dividing walls guarantee optimal responses to changing room constellations.
